Day 45 July 18

Toni enjoyed 2 days R&R in Coffs Harbour with Angie while Ron was joined by Greg Candy. From the skipper’s log: Left Coffs on 8 July at 0630 and arrived after a lovely day’s motoring at Clarence River (Yamba/Iluka) at 1620. Very strong tide running in, boat speed 9.8 knots! Anchored overnight in Iluka Bay. Due to strong NNW winds next day, a day’s layover was in order. The dinghy motor required a repair – was the water pump – under warranty but not an item you can send back for repair! Due to the day’s delay, Greg reluctantly decided he would have to leave, as he needed to be back in Melb on Saturday. 0700 departure on Friday 11 July; arrived at Cape Byron after a fair day’s motor at 1630. This was an offshore anchorage; heavy swell broadside made for an uncomfortable sleep but the anchor held well. Departed Byron 0700 and arrived at Southport at 1520. Tom departed pretty well soon after; he’d stayed longer than expected and was a great help.
Friends from Murwillimbah dropped in on Sunday and are coming back next weekend for some fishing! Lots of maintenance and washing to be done in the days before Toni returns – Wednesday. Lovely warm days in Southport, cool nights, then a big blow on Friday 18. Ann & Darren to arrive, then early departure Sat morning for some fishing and relaxing.
